NaPoWriMo: Victorious

I decided to experiment with Quaterns again. Despite my struggles with it, I really do like this form of poetry. I decided to write about my youngest daughter. She’s seventeen now, walking that delicate line between child and adult. I’m so proud of the young woman she has become. I hope that comes across in this poem.

Victorious

Victorious, she takes her place
in this world. Her journey begins.
From her first breath, she claims my heart,
a precious infant in my arms

Tyrant toddler, loud, wild and quick.
Victorious, she takes her place
as the third child in a pack of
four. She makes sure her voice is heard.

She grows from babe to child to teen,
determined, clever, beautiful.
Victorious, she takes her place
in a world filled with challenges.

I glimpse her future and I see
her confident and standing tall.
In a world improved by her strength,
victorious, she takes her place.
