NaPoWriMo: The Vampire

If you’re a regular follower of this blog, you might have noticed I skipped NaPoWriMo Day Eleven. I’m back today, but I have to admit my Day Twelve poem isn’t brand new. I wrote this a few months ago, but tweaked it today. I’m hoping to get back on track with new poetry tomorrow when my brain is a little less foggy and I’ve (hopefully) had a good night’s sleep. I hope you enjoy this paranormal Pantoum!

The Vampire

He stalks his prey by moon’s pale light
Upon uneven cobblestones
Shadows conceal his dark desires
He’s cursed to walk the night alone

Upon uneven cobblestones
She flees the unseen enemy
Desperate gasps burst from her throat
As fear lends wings to frightened feet

She flees the unseen enemy
Impending death approaches fast
Her frantic speed she can’t maintain
Feet tangle on the treacherous path

Impending death approaches fast
Sharp fangs pierce flesh to make the kill
At his touch, she’s hypnotized
Victorious, he drinks his fill

Sharp fangs pierce flesh to make the kill
Dark bliss replaces fear and pain
His wrist pressed to her purple lips
Attempts to make her whole again

Dark bliss replaces fear and pain
New dreams burst forth behind closed eyes
He waits and holds her pale, still hand
‘Till death’s companion can arise
